Can CBD help with Coronavirus / COVID-19?

As concerns started to escalate, one of the very first questions we asked ourselves was whether CBD can help with coronavirus (COVID-19) or other related illnesses.

After all, there are so many claims out there regarding cannabinoids, and CBD in particular, it can’t hurt to hope for good news, can it?

We went out looking for people that know more than we do about healthcare. If you’ve read our stuff, you know we’re cautiously optimistic, but anti-panacea. Despite what so many people say, cannabis and CBD are NOT cure-alls!

Oh – and by the way. We aren’t doctors. Always do your own research and consult a medical professional before you scamper off and do something that you read on the internet, regardless of who wrote it. Even us.

General Wellness

We’ve already established that CBD can contribute to general well-being by the way it acts on the endocannabinoid system.

So if it’s good for us in general, it should help with coronavirus, right? Not so fast.

According to our friends at New Frontier Data, “CBD also has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 enzymes, which exist in the liver and are responsible for metabolizing up to 60% of currently prescribed pharmaceutical drugs.”

Whoa! Wait a minute. You know all those times we tell you to check with your health professional? We meant it!

As of the writing of this article, there’s no known anti-viral, vaccine, or cure for COVID-19. However, what we can say from the news is that people with pre-existing conditions appear to be at higher risk if they become infected.

Popular Low-Dose CBD Products

We aren’t saying CBD impacts the metabolism of any specific medication you take, but we don’t know what you take. We like the guidance offered by this Healthline.com article.

And, as noted in the article we reference, topicals might be a great option for you.

Concerned about COVID-19?

We are, too. A number of us fall into the “high risk” category for the novel coronavirus. COVID-19. Whatever you wanna call it.

If your health care professional says CBD is right for you, there are many soothing formulas that could promote a sense of calm and centeredness.

In fact, this might be a great time to read our founder’s story if you haven’t already. We’re believers that cannabinoids like CBD can promote general wellness. We’ve seen it firsthand, and have a ton of testimonials from friends, family, and customers that attest to it as well.
